COMMUNICATIONS:
Friends in Solidarity
For small nonprofits working internationally, communications often involve far more than newsletters and social posts. The challenge is building visibility, trust, and emotional connection across distance, culture, and audience.
That has been the ongoing focus of Dreamcolor Creative Studio’s partnership with Friends in Solidarity since June 2024.
FiS is a U.S.-based nonprofit supporting communities in South Sudan through education, healthcare, pastoral care and trauma healing, and sustainable agriculture in partnership with Solidarity with South Sudan. Much of the organization’s work takes place within communities still living with the long-term effects of civil conflict and instability that have impacted South Sudan since shortly after the country gained independence in 2011.
As an ongoing communications partner, our role has involved both day-to-day creative support and broader visibility efforts designed to strengthen consistency, storytelling, and public engagement across platforms.
The work has included a full organizational rebrand, website redevelopment, marketing collateral and communications materials, monthly newsletters, social media graphics and promotional content, stakeholder interviews and storytelling initiatives, webinar promotion and campaign support, narrated video content, public relations coordination, and branded promotional materials and swag.
A major focus of the communications strategy has been helping audiences in the United States better understand the realities facing communities in South Sudan while also highlighting the dignity, leadership, faith, and long-term work taking place through local partnerships and community-centered programs.
Over time, the partnership has evolved into a steady creative collaboration supporting both the organization’s immediate communications needs and its broader public presence in the United States.
Much of the work centers on helping stories from South Sudan reach wider audiences with clarity, care, and respect for the people and communities being represented, particularly in spaces where the realities facing the region are often overlooked or underreported.
